Banter Snaps at the Night Market
Talia and Hugo trade filthy roasts at the night market before screwing hard in a back alley.

Talia hated every glittering stall of the night market the second Renata yanked her through the entrance. Neon lanterns swayed over steaming carts of grilled squid and bubble tea, the air thick with sesame oil and cheap perfume, and Talia’s phone still glowed with the ghost of the dating profile she’d just swiped left on ten minutes earlier. Thirty-year-old game designer, “looking for someone who can handle my boss-level sarcasm and occasional all-nighters coding penis jokes into indie titles.” She’d muttered “hard pass, try-hard” and locked the screen just as Renata dragged her toward a mango sticky-rice stand like it was a corporate offsite from hell.
She was mid-rant about soul-crushing marketing decks and the meat-market swipe culture when her shoulder slammed into a solid chest. Sticky rice tumbled. Mango sauce painted a bright orange streak across her wrist and the stranger’s forearm. “Watch it, comedy-hour reject,” she snapped before looking up.
Hugo—same stupidly sharp jaw from the photo, same half-smirk that had made her thumb twitch left—stared down at her. Recognition hit both of them like a poorly timed push notification. “Oh shit,” he said, voice low and amused. “Left-swipe girl. The one who probably wrote ‘fluent in spreadsheet tears’ in her own bio.”
Talia’s pulse kicked hard, half fury, half something dirtier. “And you’re the guy whose entire personality is ‘I once made a dick joke in Unity and called it art.’ Congrats on colliding with the woman who already decided your dick energy was mid.”
Renata melted away with a knowing wink, leaving them boxed between a sizzling satay cart and a wall of hanging lanterns. Hugo wiped sauce from his sleeve with two fingers, then pointed them at her like a challenge. “Mid? Baby, my energy’s DLC-exclusive. You swiped left because you were scared your corporate pussy couldn’t handle a man who designs levels harder than your quarterly KPIs.”
“Please. I’ve faked more orgasms in Zoom stand-ups than you’ve shipped unfinished games. Your profile screamed ‘will absolutely try the office-supply closet fantasy and then ghost when the toner cartridge jams.’” She stepped closer, heat rising under her thin tank top. The roast landed and his laugh came out rough, eyes dropping to her mouth.
They traded shots while the market roared around them. She mocked his “seeking chaos gremlin” bio line; he gutted her “looking for someone who won’t bore me with Excel” tag. Every barb landed with a spark that traveled straight between her legs. Small talk was a foreign language neither spoke, but filthy one-liners? They were fluent. Hugo leaned in, breath warm against her ear. “Bet you daydream about getting bent over the conference table while the VP drones about Q3 metrics. Skirt flipped, cock buried so deep you forget your own Slack status.”
Talia’s laugh was pure wicked heat. “And you jerk off to the idea of some intern catching you mid-fuck against the supply closet door, stapler digging into her ass while you whisper patch-note dirty talk. Admit it.”
