I still taste the residual tannin of that last pour when I admit what the locked cellar did to me. Thirty-two years of running my family’s hillside vineyard had taught me every vintage’s secrets, every competitor’s weak spot—except Danielle’s. Twenty-nine, already a sommelier with a reputation for gutting pretenders at blind tastings, she had spent three seasons needling me in public and leaving me wet in private. That night the old stone cellar of the remote estate became our accidental confessional.

The heavy oak door had swung shut with a final iron clang while the estate manager shouted something about a seized lock and a morning key. Lanterns flickered along the damp walls, throwing gold across rows of dusty bottles and the long tasting table still cluttered with our glasses. Danielle stood opposite me in a black silk blouse that clung to the high curve of her breasts, charcoal trousers tailored so close they might as well have been painted on. Her dark hair was twisted up, a few strands stuck to the sweat at her neck. I hated how deliberately I catalogued every detail.

“Well, Vanessa,” she said, voice low and edged the way it always was when she meant to cut. “Looks like your precious estate finally found a way to keep me overnight. Afraid I’d walk off with the silver or just desperate for company?”

I laughed once, sharp. “Please. I’d rather sleep with the barrels than listen to another of your lectures on ‘true expression of terroir.’ You scored half a point higher on the Syrah and suddenly you’re the oracle.”

She stepped closer, heels clicking on stone. The lantern light caught the freckles across her collarbones. “Half a point and you flinched like I’d slapped you. I saw it. That little twitch in your jaw when I called your reserve blend ‘competent.’ Competent. Such a cold little word for something you’ve poured your whole body into.”

My pulse thudded between my legs. I had poured more than body into that blend; I had poured nights imagining her mouth on the rim of the glass, her tongue chasing the finish. I kept my face still. “You talk like you know what I pour my body into. You don’t.”

Danielle circled the table slowly, trailing one fingertip along the wood. “Don’t I? Every time we trade barbs at these things you lean in a fraction too far. Your nipples go tight under whatever silk armor you’re wearing. Tonight’s no different.” Her eyes dropped openly to my chest. The thin ivory blouse I’d chosen for the competition left little to guess; the cool cellar air and her stare had already done their work. “There. See? Already hard for the insult.”

Heat flooded my face and lower. I refused to cross my arms. “You’re projecting, Danielle. You’ve been eye-fucking my cellar map all evening. Maybe you just want the keys to my caves.”

“Maybe I want the keys to something wetter.” She stopped an arm’s length away. The air between us smelled of wet limestone, oak, and the faint citrus of her perfume. “You’ve spent two years calling my palate arrogant. I’ve spent two years calling your wines safe. Both of us lying. I know what safe really means for you. It means you jerk off thinking about me wrecking that careful reputation with my tongue.”

I should have shut her down. Instead I heard myself say, “And you? You get off on the idea of me pinning you against a rack and making you admit my Cabernet is better while I fuck you with my fingers until you can’t taste anything else.”

Her breath hitched—small, delicious, impossible to miss. She recovered with a smirk that didn’t reach her eyes. “Filthy mouth for a winery owner. Keep talking like that and the bottles will blush.”

We kept circling. Every lap around the table shortened the distance. My thighs brushed once; static leapt. Danielle’s knuckles grazed my hip as she reached past me for a forgotten glass. She didn’t pull away fast. The contact lingered long enough that I felt the heat of her skin through fabric.

“Admit it,” she murmured near my ear. “You’re wet. Has been since I said your Merlot lacked soul. You love when I degrade the thing you made. It gets you soaked.”

I turned so we were face to face, close enough that our breasts nearly touched with each inhale. “And you’re dripping because you finally have me locked somewhere I can’t walk away after the applause. You want me to ruin that perfect, judgmental little cunt of yours until you beg to score me higher.”

Her pupils blew wide in the lantern light. “Say cunt again.”

“Your cunt,” I repeated, voice rough. “Tight, competitive, desperate to be filled by the woman you pretend to hate.”

Danielle’s hand rose, hovered at the side of my throat, then settled lightly—not choking, just claiming the pulse that hammered there. “I could kiss you right now and you’d open. Or I could make you wait until you’re shaking. Which do you think I’d enjoy more?”

“Both,” I whispered, honest for the first time all night. “I’d let you do both.”

She smiled like she’d won a round, then stepped back just far enough that the loss of heat felt like a slap. “Not yet. I want to watch you pace. I want to hear every filthy thought you’ve ever swallowed while you pretended my notes were professional.”

I walked the length of the cellar to steady myself, fingers trailing over cold bottle necks. Behind me I heard the soft rustle of her blouse as she unbuttoned the top two buttons—not enough to bare anything, just enough to show the shadowed valley between her breasts. When I turned she was leaning against a stack of cases, thighs parted just slightly, one hand resting low on her stomach as if she might slide it lower any second.

“Tell me what you pictured the night of the regional finals,” she ordered quietly. “When I leaned across the table to correct your pairing and my hair brushed your wrist.”

My mouth went dry. “I pictured dragging you under that table. Pushing your skirt up. Making you come quiet so the judges wouldn’t hear while I told you your Pinot notes were pretentious bullshit. I wanted your thighs shaking around my ears.”

Danielle’s free hand clenched on the edge of a crate. “Christ. Keep going.”

“I pictured you returning the favor in my own tasting room after hours. You on your knees in those ridiculous heels, tongue working my clit while I held your hair and forced you to praise every vintage you once trashed. I wanted you messy. Chin shiny. Voice ruined.”

She exhaled hard. “I pictured that too. Among other things. I pictured you tying my wrists with one of your silk scarves and making me edge for an hour while you described, in clinical detail, every way my technique is inferior—then proving none of it matters once your mouth is on me.”

We were both breathing too fast. The lanterns hissed softly. Somewhere deeper in the cellar a pipe dripped in steady counterpoint to the throb between my legs. Danielle pushed off the crates and closed the distance again until her hips nudged mine. The contact was light, almost polite, yet it sent a jolt straight through my cunt.

“We have all night,” she said. “No staff. No cameras. Just stone and wine and the two of us finally out of excuses.” Her fingers found the hem of my blouse and slipped underneath, skimming the bare skin of my waist. Not lower. Not yet. Just enough to brand me with heat. “I’m going to make you admit every secret craving before I let you touch me properly. And you’re going to do the same to me. Slow. Mean. Exact.”

I caught her wrist, held it there against my side. “Then start. Tell me the dirtiest thing you’ve ever thought while swirling one of my glasses in public.”

Danielle’s smile turned feral and soft at once. “I thought about knocking the glass out of your hand, bending you over the nearest barrel, and licking the spill off your tits while I rubbed my pussy against your thigh until we both came without ever taking our clothes all the way off. Public risk. Private ruin. That’s what you do to me, Vanessa.”

My knees nearly buckled. I pressed her hand harder against my skin, guiding it an inch higher so her thumb brushed the underside of my breast through the thin bra. She didn’t resist. She just watched my face like she was still scoring me.

“Your turn,” she breathed. “Make it worse.”

I leaned in until my lips almost brushed hers—almost, not quite—and let the confession spill. “I want to lock this door from the inside even tighter. I want to strip you slow, taste every inch you’ve ever used to judge me, and then fuck you with my strap until the only notes you can write are how deep I am and how hard you came on the owner you swore you’d never touch. I want your voice echoing off these stones while you call me better. I want you wrecked and grateful and still talking shit because that’s how we burn.”

Danielle’s eyes fluttered shut for one heartbeat. When they opened again the hunger there was naked. Her free hand slid up my spine, fingertips pressing, promising. “We’re going to do all of it,” she said. “But first you’re going to stand here and let me look at you while I decide which insult makes you wettest. And you’re going to look at me the same way. No rushing. No mercy. Just the two of us and the dark and every filthy thing we’ve pretended not to want.”

The lantern light wavered. Outside, wind moved through the vines. Inside, the air between our mouths stayed charged and unfinished, her thigh resting lightly against mine, my hand still trapping hers under my blouse, both of us already trembling with the knowledge that morning was a long time away and neither of us intended to waste a single locked hour on sleep.

I still feel the brand of her thumb under my breast when the argument reignites, sharper for how close we already stand. Danielle’s eyes glitter in the lantern glow, that professional scorn I know too well sliding back over the hunger like a second skin.

“Your palate is soft,” she says, voice low enough that it vibrates against my collarbone. “You score for romance instead of structure. That reserve Cabernet you keep defending? Over-extracted. You chase fruit like it’s going to save you.”

My laugh comes out breathy, almost a moan. “And yours is a blade looking for something to cut. You miss the soul because you’re too busy measuring the skeleton. Half a point on the Syrah and you strut like you’ve rewritten the land itself.”

I step in deliberately—no accident this time. My breasts brush hers, silk to silk, the hard points of my nipples dragging across the thin barrier of her blouse. The contact is electric, warm flesh yielding just enough that I feel the heavy curve of her through fabric. I hold it there, chests rising together, and whisper the challenge right against the shell of her ear.

“Prove your palate is better, Danielle. Right here. Taste me and tell me I lack depth. Or admit you’ve been dying to get drunk on whatever I give you.”

Her answer is instantaneous. One hand fists in the front of my blouse; the other grips my hip hard enough to bruise. She spins us, drives me backward until my spine meets the wooden rungs of a wine rack, bottles rattling softly in their cradles. Cool glass and iron brackets press against my shoulders. She pins me there with the full length of her body—thighs locking mine, hips grinding once in a slow, claiming roll that forces a wet pulse straight through my cunt. Her free hand braces beside my head, caging me in the scent of citrus and oak and her own heat.

“Years,” she breathes, forehead nearly touching mine. “Two fucking years of wanting this. Every tasting, every public cut, I’ve gone home soaked and furious that I couldn’t just shove you against the nearest wall and take what I already knew was mine.”

I swallow, voice cracking open. “Same. God, same. I’ve hated how good you are at making me drip. I’ve hated that I still picture your mouth every time I finish a blend. I want you so badly it makes me stupid.”

The confession hangs between us for one heartbeat, then her mouth crashes onto mine. No tentative brush—hungry, open, tongues sliding wet and immediate. She tastes like the last Syrah and something darker, private. I open for her with a moan she swallows whole, sucking her lower lip, nipping, letting her fuck my mouth with the same arrogance she uses on my wines. Our teeth click once; then we’re past skill into pure need. Her tongue strokes deep, claiming, and I meet every thrust, hands flying up to yank the pins from her hair so the dark weight tumbles around both our faces.

The kiss turns feral. She grinds against me harder, the ridge of her pubic bone dragging over my clit through trousers and the thin lace I’m already soaking. I can feel how wet she is too—heat blooming against my thigh. My fingers scramble at the remaining buttons of her blouse, popping them free one by one until the silk hangs open and my palms slide over bare skin, the soft undersides of her breasts, the tight buds of her nipples that stiffen further under my thumbs. She arches into the touch with a broken sound that vibrates straight down my throat.

“Yes—fuck, Vanessa, under—get under—”

I shove the blouse off her shoulders. It catches at her elbows; she shrugs impatiently, never breaking the kiss long enough to free herself completely. My hands roam the newly bared plane of her back, nails scraping lightly down the knobs of her spine until I reach the waistband of those painted-on trousers. I hook my fingers inside, palm splaying over the bare curve of her ass, squeezing hard enough that she gasps into my mouth.

She answers by dragging my blouse up, not bothering with buttons, rucking the ivory fabric high so the cool cellar air hits my stomach, then higher still until the cups of my bra are shoved above my breasts. Her hands are on me instantly—cupping, lifting, thumbs circling my nipples in rough, perfect pressure. When she pinches, I cry out against her tongue and roll my hips harder, seeking friction I’m already desperate for.

“Please,” I beg, the word torn out of me between kisses. “More. I need your hands on my cunt. I’ve waited—Christ, Danielle, don’t make me wait.”

“Say it again.” Her mouth leaves mine only long enough to drag open kisses down my jaw, teeth grazing the tendon of my neck. “Beg properly while I feel how soaked you already are for the woman who keeps scoring you second.”

I fumble open the button of her trousers, zipper rasping down. My hand slides inside, under the lace of her underwear, and finds her slick and swollen, folds parting eagerly around two of my fingers. She is dripping—hot, ready, coating my knuckles as I stroke through her once, twice, collecting the proof of how long she’s wanted this.

“I’m begging,” I pant, forehead pressed to hers, both of us shaking. “Finger me. Fuck me with your hand against this rack until I come on you. I want to feel how superior your palate is when you’re tasting my come off your own fingers. Please—both of us—don’t stop.”

She growls approval and shoves my trousers and panties down together just far enough. Her hand dives between my legs without preamble. Two fingers sink into me on the first thrust, curling expertly against the spot that makes my knees buckle. I clench around her, shameless, grinding down while I keep working her clit in tight circles. We fuck each other like that—standing, pinned, mouths open and wet against each other’s cheeks and throats—breath hitching in the same rhythm as the drip of water somewhere deeper in the dark.

“Years,” she repeats against my ear, voice wrecked. “Every time you leaned across a table I wanted to shove my tongue in your cunt instead of correcting your notes. Every time you smirked I wanted to make you choke on how good I taste. Don’t you dare stop touching me.”

“I won’t—fuck, I won’t—” My thumb finds her clit again, rubbing in the same tempo she uses inside me. We’re both moving now, hips snapping, bottles chiming softly behind my shoulders each time she drives me back into the rack. Her free hand keeps tormenting my breast, pinching, rolling, then dipping lower to join the fingers already buried in me so that three stretch me open. The burn is perfect. I sob into her neck and push two fingers deep into her in answer, feeling her walls flutter and grip.

The cellar air is thick with the smell of us—musk and wine and sweat. Lantern light paints gold across the freckles on her collarbones, the flushed upper slopes of her tits, the wet shine on my wrist every time I pull almost free of her and plunge back in. She kisses me again, messier, all tongue and shared breath, and I feel the first warning flutter deep in my core.

“Not yet,” she orders, even as her own thighs start to tremble. “We admit more first. Tell me how long you’ve touched yourself thinking about my mouth on these.” She squeezes my nipple hard enough that pleasure spikes white behind my eyes.

“Since the first regional,” I confess, fucking her faster, chasing the wet sounds her cunt makes around my fingers. “I came so hard that night I bit my own hand. Pictured you under the tasting table. Pictured you riding my face until you couldn’t remember any score but mine.”

“Good girl.” The praise is filthy in her mouth. She scissoring her fingers inside me, stretching, pressing up. “I’ve ruined two pairs of underwear just from watching you swirl a glass. I’ve come with your name in my mouth and hated how much I still wanted to hear you beg exactly like this.”

We keep going—kissing, fingering, grinding—until our wrists ache and our clothes are wrecked around our hips and breasts. She pins me harder when I try to slide down to my knees, forcing me to stay upright, forced to take every thrust of her hand while I keep giving her the same. The wine rack creaks. My orgasm builds like pressure behind a cork, inevitable, but I fight it because I need her right there with me, need the next filthy admission, need the feel of her coming around my fingers before I let go.

“More,” I whisper against her open mouth, both of us already wrecked and nowhere near finished. “Take the rest of these clothes off me. I want your mouth next. I want to taste how superior you really are when you’re drowning in me.”

Danielle’s eyes are black with want. She doesn’t pull her hand free. She just kisses me deeper, slower, promising everything still locked inside this cellar for the long hours left until morning, her fingers still working, my own still buried in her heat, both of us trembling on the edge of the next surrender we haven’t yet spoken aloud.

I still feel her fingers buried inside me, three of them now, stretching me open against the wine rack while mine work her just as deep, when the need to taste her finally snaps the last of my control. Danielle’s free hand is still tormenting my nipple, rolling it hard enough that sparks shoot straight to my clit, and her mouth is open against my throat, panting the same desperate rhythm as the drip of water deeper in the cellar. I can’t wait any longer. I need her on my tongue.

“Let me,” I rasp, pulling my hand free of her soaked cunt with a wet sound that makes us both shiver. “Down. Now. I have to eat you.”

She doesn’t argue. Her fingers slide out of me slowly, glistening, and she lifts them to my mouth so I can suck them clean while she watches with black, hungry eyes. The taste of myself mixed with the salt of her skin nearly drops me then and there. I sink to my knees on the cold stone, the lantern light painting her bare breasts gold above me, freckles stark across her collarbones. Her trousers and lace are already shoved to mid-thigh; I yank them the rest of the way down along with the charcoal fabric, freeing one leg completely so I can shove her thighs wider. She braces one hand on the rack behind her, bottles chiming softly, the other sliding into my hair.

I look up once—thirty-two-year-old winery owner on her knees for the twenty-nine-year-old rival who has spent seasons gutting me in public—and then I bury my face between her legs.

She is dripping, folds swollen and slick, the sharp clean scent of her cutting through oak and limestone. I start slow the way she once demanded every filthy confession: long, flat strokes of my tongue from the soaked entrance up to her clit, lingering, pressing, worshipping every inch I’ve imagined for two years. Danielle’s hips jerk. A broken “Vanessa—” spills out of her. I do it again, slower, tasting the way her body clenches and flutters, then circle her clit with the tip of my tongue in lazy, deliberate rings while two fingers slide back into her heat and curl. She is so wet the sounds are obscene, wet and rhythmic, echoing off the stone.

“Fuck—your mouth—keep going, just like that,” she gasps, thighs trembling around my ears. I suck her clit gently between my lips, tongue flicking the swollen bud in the same tempo I once used to swirl a glass of her despised Merlot, and her free hand tightens in my hair hard enough to sting. I love it. I flatten my tongue and drag it firm and slow again, over and over, drinking every pulse of her, every fresh gush that coats my chin. Her knees start to buckle; I hold her up with one forearm across her ass, fingers still pumping deep while my mouth works her with single-minded devotion.

“I’m—Vanessa, I’m going to—” She doesn’t finish. Her cunt clamps hard around my fingers, walls fluttering wildly, and she comes with a raw cry that bounces off the barrels, grinding shamelessly against my face, soaking my mouth, my jaw, the front of my half-open blouse. I keep licking her through it, slower now, gentler, tasting every aftershock until she is shaking and tugging my hair to pull me up.

I rise on unsteady legs. Her mouth finds mine immediately, messy and grateful, tongue chasing her own taste. Then she is spinning us, driving me backward until my shoulders hit the cool curve of a barrel. “My turn,” she growls, voice ruined. She shoves my trousers the rest of the way down and off, kicks them aside, then drops to her own knees only long enough to yank my ruined panties free. When she stands again she is already pressing two fingers into me, curling hard, while her hot mouth latches onto my left nipple and sucks.

I cry out, head falling back against the wood. She fingers me deep and steady, thumb circling my clit in tight, perfect pressure, while she switches to the other breast, teeth grazing, tongue swirling. The dual assault is overwhelming—her skilled hand working my cunt the way she scores a blind tasting, precise and merciless, her mouth worshipping the nipples she once only stared at across competition tables. My hands fist in her loose dark hair, holding her to my chest as she sucks harder, fingers scissoring inside me until I’m dripping down her wrist.

“You’re so fucking wet for me,” she murmurs against my skin, pumping faster. “Dripping little rival, all over my hand. Tell me how good it feels.”

“Perfect—Christ, Danielle, your fingers—don’t stop sucking—” I can barely form words. She adds a third finger, stretching me open against the barrel, and the wet sounds of her fucking me fill the cellar. My orgasm is already coiling tight when she bites down lightly on my nipple and curls those fingers just right. I shatter with a broken moan, cunt spasming around her hand, hips bucking, pleasure ripping through me so hard my vision whites out for a second. She works me through every wave, mouth still latched, until I’m limp and gasping against the wood.

We are both wrecked, clothes discarded in tangled heaps, skin flushed and shining with sweat and come. Danielle’s eyes are still dark with unfinished hunger. I spot the old storage trunk near the tasting table—the one the estate manager uses for spare tools and forgotten props from tastings. Something reckless and perfect flares in me. I cross to it on bare feet, flip the lid, and there, half-buried under dusty linens, is a worn leather harness and a smooth, thick silicone cock clearly left behind by someone who once needed exactly this kind of night.

Danielle watches me strap it on, pupils blown wide, lips parted. The base settles against my still-sensitive clit with delicious pressure. I crook a finger. “Table. Bend over. Now.”

She obeys without hesitation, palms flat on the long wooden tasting table still littered with our earlier glasses, ass presented, thighs parted. I step behind her, run my hands over the curve of her hips, then notch the head of the strap at her soaked entrance. “You ready for this, beautiful dripping little rival slut?”

“Yes—fuck me, Vanessa, fill me—”

I push in slow and deep, one long possessive stroke that seats me to the hilt inside her. She moans low and broken. I grip her hips and start fucking her in steady, rolling thrusts, the leather creaking softly, the thick length dragging over every sensitive place inside her while the base grinds against my own clit with every snap of my hips. The table creaks. Glasses rattle. I lean over her back, one hand sliding around to rub her clit in time with my thrusts, the other bracing beside hers.

“Take it,” I growl against her ear, voice thick. “Take every inch from the woman whose wines you keep calling safe. You’re so fucking tight around me—look how well this dripping cunt opens for its rival.”

“Harder—make me feel it,” she pants, pushing back to meet every stroke. “You’re so deep—fuck, Vanessa, wreck me with it. Call me yours while you do it.”

I give her harder, longer thrusts, possessive and relentless, the wet slap of skin and the creak of wood filling the locked cellar. “My beautiful little rival slut, soaking this cock, taking it so perfectly. You’re going to come again all over it while I fuck the arrogance right out of you—and you’re still going to talk shit tomorrow because that’s how we burn.”

“Yes—keep talking—I’m close—” Her voice cracks. I rub her clit faster, slam deeper, and she shatters with a raw scream, cunt pulsing hard around the strap, body shaking under me. The rhythmic squeeze and the grind of the base against my clit tip me over the edge right with her. I come hard, grinding deep, spilling filthy praise into her hair as pleasure rips through both of us in the same endless wave—two rivals locked together, dripping, ruined, still rocking through the aftershocks against the tasting table while lantern light flickers and morning stays mercifully far away.

We collapse forward together, still joined, breathing hard, sweat cooling on bare skin. Danielle turns her head, mouth seeking mine in a slow, filthy kiss that tastes of shared surrender. My hands stroke down her sides; hers reach back to grip my thigh, keeping me inside her a little longer. The harness is still strapped tight, the night still young, and the locked door still holds every filthy thing we haven’t finished confessing.

We stay joined a little longer, the thick length of the strap still buried deep inside Danielle while our breathing slowly finds the same uneven rhythm. Sweat cools along the valley of her spine under my palms; I feel every tiny aftershock flutter around me. The lanterns have burned lower, throwing longer shadows across the tasting table and the scattered glasses that somehow survived our last hard thrusts. My thighs tremble against the backs of hers. I am thirty-two and she is twenty-nine and for the first time in two years of public knives I do not want to score anything except the soft weight of her body still open for me.

Danielle turns her head just enough that her mouth finds mine again. The kiss is slower now, wet and unhurried, tasting of salt and the Syrah we never finished. I rock once more, shallow, just to feel her walls squeeze in sleepy greed, then ease out of her. The empty sound makes us both shiver. I unbuckle the harness with clumsy fingers; the leather peels away from my still-sensitive clit and I set the whole contraption on the nearest crate like a trophy neither of us will claim aloud. Bare feet on cold stone, we straighten together, knees shaky, and the full stretch of her naked body presses to mine—breasts soft against breasts, damp curls catching, the scent of us thick as any barrel room.

Still trembling, I turn fully and pull Danielle into a slow, tender kiss that has nothing left of competition in it. My hands cradle her face; her thumbs stroke the corners of my jaw. When we finally part I keep my forehead against hers and let the confession leave me in a whisper that feels older than this cellar.

“I have wanted to surrender to you for years,” I tell her. “Every time you called my wine safe I went home and touched myself imagining exactly this—your mouth, your hands, you making me admit how badly I needed to lose to you. I hated you for it and I loved you for it in the same breath. I still do.”

Danielle’s eyes shine wet in the gold light. She kisses the corner of my mouth, then the other, then rests her lips against my temple while her fingers comb gently through the tangled hair at my nape. “Same, Vanessa. God, same. I kept scoring you second so I would have a reason to keep coming back and cutting deeper. I wanted you wrecked and grateful and still talking shit. I got all of it tonight and it still isn’t enough.”

We stay like that for long minutes, skin cooling, hearts slowing, until the chill of the stone walls finally reaches us. Danielle laughs softly against my throat—a real laugh, not the sharp public one—and steps back just far enough to look me over. “Come here. Let me dress you before you freeze.”

She finds my discarded ivory blouse first, shakes the dust from it, and holds it open so I can slide my arms through. Her knuckles brush the undersides of my breasts as she eases the fabric up; she lingers to kiss each nipple once, slow and almost chaste now, then buttons me with careful fingers that still remember how hard they pinched earlier. I do the same for her—drawing the black silk over her shoulders, smoothing it down the freckled plane of her chest, fastening each button while I steal soft open-mouthed kisses along her collarbone. When I reach her trousers she holds my waist for balance, stepping into one leg and then the other; I kneel to zip her, press my cheek briefly to the soft curve of her lower belly, inhale the lingering musk of both of us before rising again.

My own trousers go on last. Danielle crouches, guides my feet, draws the fabric up my thighs with both hands sliding possessively over skin she already knows by heart. She hooks her fingers in the waistband and settles it at my hips, then rests her forehead against my stomach for a moment, breathing me in. “Still wet,” she murmurs, almost wonder. “Still mine for a few more hours.”

“Yours,” I agree, voice rough. “For as long as the lock holds and longer after that.”

We gather the rest of our things in companionable quiet—shoes left off, underwear stuffed into pockets because neither of us can face the damp lace again just yet. Near the far wall I spot an old wool blanket folded on top of a low stack of empty cases, the kind the estate once used for outdoor tastings. I pull it free, shake out the dust, and spread it across the cooler stretch of flagstone between two racks. Danielle carries over a dusty bottle of the estate’s own late-harvest Riesling—something sweet enough to forgive the night—and two clean glasses she finds miraculously unbroken.

We sit side by side on the blanket, bare shoulders touching, backs against the rough stone. I open the bottle with the corkscrew still left on the table; the cork sighs free and the honeyed scent of botrytis and apricot rises between us. I pour, hand her a glass, and we touch rims with a soft crystal click that feels more intimate than any toast we ever made upstairs.

The first sip is cool and lush. Danielle leans her head on my shoulder. I feel the exact weight of her trust settle there. My free hand finds her thigh, strokes slow circles just above the knee, not starting anything new, only keeping the circuit closed. She turns her face into my neck and I feel her smile against my pulse.

“Next time,” she whispers, already planning, “we don’t wait for a seized lock. We arrange it. Your caves after the harvest festival. Or mine, the private barrel room no one else has keys to. I’ll bring the strap you left on that crate. You’ll bring whatever filthy confessions you still haven’t said out loud.”

I laugh quietly, the sound vibrating into her hair. “I’ll bring the silk scarves you once imagined me tying you with. We’ll spend a whole afternoon making you edge while I describe, in clinical detail, every way your technique is inferior—then prove none of it matters once you’re coming on my tongue. And afterward we’ll sit exactly like this, sharing whatever bottle survived, and we’ll whisper about the time after that.”

“And the time after that,” she echoes, lifting her head just enough to kiss the hinge of my jaw. “Years’ worth. Every private tasting we can steal. I want to know what your cunt tastes like after a day of pruning vines. I want to fuck you slow against the concrete floor of my own cellar until you score me higher than anyone else ever has. I want mornings that start with your mouth and end with us sticky and laughing and already late for whatever meeting we pretended mattered more.”

I drink again, let the sweetness linger, then set the glass down so I can pull her fully into my lap. She comes willingly, straddling me on the blanket, skirt of her open blouse falling around us like dark wings. We kiss—slow, deep, unhurried—tongues sliding in the same lazy rhythm as the wine still coats our throats. My hands roam the bare skin of her back beneath the silk; hers slide into my hair and hold me exactly where she wants me. When we break for air her eyes are soft in a way the competition never saw.

“I meant it,” I tell her again, quieter. “The surrender. Not just the fucking. I want to keep losing to you in the dark and winning with you in public. I want the next private tasting and the one after and the one where we finally stop pretending the only heat between us is professional.”

Danielle rests her forehead to mine. “Then we’ll arrange it. Soon. I’ll text you a date disguised as a request for barrel samples. You’ll answer with coordinates for the back road that leads only to your oldest vines. We’ll bring blankets and wine and the strap and every filthy word we still haven’t used. And when we’re done we’ll sit just like this—trembling a little, dressed by each other’s hands, already whispering about the time after that.”

Outside the locked door the night wind moves through the vines. Inside, the lanterns gutter lower still, painting our bare feet and the half-empty bottle gold.
