Emily ran her fingers along a silk blouse on the rack, the high-end boutique humming with soft music and the low murmur of other shoppers. Jake had already drifted toward the men’s section with Sophia, laughing about something Marcus had said earlier over drinks. That left her alone near the fitting rooms with Marcus, whose broad shoulders filled out his simple black t-shirt in a way that made her pulse quicken. At thirty-two, the personal trainer carried himself with easy confidence, dark skin gleaming under the store lights, and every time their eyes met she felt the same pull that had been building for weeks—lingering looks at the gym, “accidental” brushes of hands, compliments that lingered too long.
“Try this one,” Marcus said, holding up a tight emerald dress that looked two sizes too small. His voice was low, warm. “It’ll look unreal on you.”
Emily took it, cheeks flushing. “You think so?” She stepped into the spacious fitting room he held open for her. The mirrors wrapped three walls, the bench cushioned and wide. He didn’t leave. Instead he leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, watching as she slipped behind the partial curtain to change. When she emerged, the dress clung to every curve—her full breasts strained the neckline, the fabric hugged her hips and ass like a second skin.
Marcus’s gaze traveled slowly. “Damn, Emily. Jake’s a lucky man.” He stepped inside properly, letting the heavy curtain fall. “Turn around for me.”
