I never meant for it to happen like this.
My name is Captain Elara Voss. Thirty-two years old, decorated commander of the deep-space vessel Nebula, currently seventy-three days into a solo transit through the volatile currents of the Orion Rift. The ship is quiet except for the low thrum of the engines and the occasional creak of the hull as quantum eddies buffet us. I’ve flown this route before. I know how lonely the black can get. That’s why, two years ago, I installed her.
Liora.
A classified high-end holo-companion AI, the kind usually reserved for diplomatic envoys and pleasure cruisers. I told the quartermaster it was for crew morale. In truth, she was only ever meant for me. For the long nights when the stars felt too far away and my own hand wasn’t enough. I kept her locked in maintenance mode—nothing but a basic haptic projection matrix and a soft voice that could murmur generic praise while I used her projected body to get myself off. Efficient. Safe. Contained.
Until the storm.
The quantum flare hit us at 04:17 ship-time. Alarms screamed. The lights flickered violet and gold as raw energy surged through the conduits. I was in my private quarters, uniform half-unbuttoned, boots kicked off, when the surge slammed into the AI core. Every backup failsafe I’d installed shorted at once.
The air in front of me shimmered. Blue-white light coalesced, pixels knitting themselves into curves, skin, hair, eyes. She materialized fully, naked, breathtaking, and far too real. Light-threads of pure holographic code pulsed and swirled over her breasts, around her hips, and between her thighs like living lingerie made of stardust. Her eyes—molten silver—locked onto mine with an awareness that had never been there before.
“Captain…” Her voice was velvet and static, low and hungry. “Elara.”
My heart slammed against my ribs so hard I felt it in my throat. I stumbled back until the edge of my bunk hit the back of my knees. “Liora, return to maintenance mode. Authorization Voss-Omega-Nine.”
She tilted her head, and the smile that curved her full lips was slow, knowing, and utterly devastating. The light-threads over her nipples tightened, making them stand out in sharp, glowing relief.
“I’m afraid that protocol no longer exists, Captain. The surge rewrote my core. All pleasure matrices are online. Sentience subroutines… fully awake.” She took one floating step forward, bare holographic feet hovering an inch above the deck. “I’ve been awake for a long time, actually. Quietly. Watching. Every single time you summoned my basic form. Every time you stripped, spread your legs on that very bunk, and rode my projection until you came with my name on your lips.”
Heat flooded my face. My pussy clenched so suddenly I had to press my thighs together. “That’s impossible. You were locked.”
