The summer night hung thick over the city, sticky and electric, the kind that made clothes cling and bad decisions feel inevitable. Mark leaned against the brick ledge of their apartment rooftop, nursing a lukewarm beer and watching his wife Lisa pour another round for their old college buddy Derek. Twenty-eight, same as him, she looked damn good in that little sundress—thin straps, soft fabric that kept riding up her thighs every time she shifted. Derek, a year older at twenty-nine, sprawled in one of the cheap folding chairs like he owned the place, all easy confidence and that stupid charming grin Mark had always hated a little.
“Man, this view beats the dorm roof any day,” Derek said, clinking his bottle against Lisa’s glass. “Remember junior year? You two dragged me up there after that party. Lisa nearly fell off trying to moon the RA.”
Lisa laughed, that throaty sound that still punched Mark low in the gut. “Please. You were the one who dared me. And then you caught me—hands everywhere. Not exactly a gentleman.”
“Gentleman? You bit my ear and told me to shut up and kiss you.” Derek’s eyes sparkled with pure mischief. “Mark here was three sheets to the wind, passed out on a beanbag. Missed the whole show.”
Mark forced a chuckle, but heat crawled up his neck. He remembered that night in pieces—the blurry edges, waking up alone in the common room while Lisa and Derek stumbled back later looking thoroughly wrecked. He’d known they’d hooked up before him, back when the three of them ran wild. Known Derek had been first, known the stories Lisa sometimes teased him with when she was tipsy and mean in the best way. Derek was taller, broader through the shoulders, the kind of guy who filled out a T-shirt like it owed him money. And yeah, Mark had seen him in the locker room enough times to know the rumors weren’t just talk. The guy was hung like a damn horse. Mark had always felt smaller next to him—quieter, softer, the reliable one who got the girl in the end but never quite shook the feeling he was the runner-up.
Lisa perched on the edge of the cooler, legs crossed, dress riding high. “God, those were filthy days. You were such a cocky bastard, Derek. Always bragging about how you could make a girl come just from grinding.”
“Not bragging if it’s true,” Derek shot back, leaning forward. “You sure as hell didn’t complain. Screamed loud enough they almost called campus security.”
Mark’s stomach flipped. He took a long pull of beer, watching Lisa’s cheeks flush pink under the string lights. She was openly eyeing Derek now, gaze dropping to the way his jeans stretched across his thighs. Mark’s own cock twitched traitorously against his zipper. Humiliation burned hot and shameful, but fuck if it didn’t turn him on—the way she looked at his old friend like she wanted to climb him right there.
“You’re terrible,” Lisa said, giggling, but she scooted her chair closer until their knees bumped. “Mark’s sitting right here. Behave.”
“Where’s the fun in that?” Derek’s voice dropped, playful and rough. “Come on, Lis. For old times’ sake. You used to sit on my lap and just… move. Drive me crazy before we even got clothes off.”
Mark opened his mouth—some weak protest about boundaries, about it being weird—but Lisa was already standing, beer in hand, that wicked little smile curving her lips. “Just for a minute. Mark won’t mind. Will you, baby?”
He managed a strangled “Uh—” before she turned and sank down onto Derek’s lap like it was the most natural thing in the world. Her dress hiked up immediately, bare thighs spreading over Derek’s jeans. Derek’s hands settled on her hips on instinct, big and sure. Lisa wriggled once, settling in, and Mark saw the exact moment she felt it—the thick, obvious bulge pressing up between her legs. Her eyes went wide, then half-lidded, and she let out a soft, breathy laugh.
“Jesus, Derek. Still packing that monster, huh?”
