The rain lashed the cracked windows of the old manor like fingers demanding entry. Aisha stood barefoot on the cold parquet of the master bedroom, twenty-eight and already aching in places no living man had ever reached. She had come for the archives—crumbling ledgers, occult marginalia, the sealed diaries of a vanished Victorian bloodline—but the house itself had begun to speak first.
It started as a draft that carried scent: cedar, old wine, and something metallic-sweet. Then the whispers threaded through the plaster. Low. Velvet. Male.
“Aisha…”
Her name, drawn out like a tongue along the hollow of her throat. She pressed her palm flat to the wallpaper and felt the wall pulse once, warm.
“I have waited,” the voice continued, closer now, curling behind her ear though nothing stood there. “Decades of dust and empty beds. You smell of ink and hunger. Do you know what I was?”
She knew. Lord Andre Vale, staked in 1873 yet never truly gone, cursed to haunt the bones of his own house as smoke and suggestion. Historian’s pride warred with the slow, shameful heat pooling between her thighs. Every night the whispers grew bolder.
“I would taste the salt behind your knees. I would open you with patience until you forgot every living cock that ever failed you.”
She slept naked after the third night, sheets kicked away, fingers lazy between her legs while his voice catalogued what he would do. By the fifth she was speaking back into the dark.
“Show me,” she whispered. “Stop teasing.”
