Exes Ignite at 3AM Diner
Exes reunite at 3AM diner and finally fuck their taboo step-sibling tension out.
Theo hunched over the cracked Formica of the corner booth, the fluorescent lights of the 24-hour diner buzzing like angry wasps above his head. Three a.m. painted everything in a sickly yellow glow—the sticky ketchup bottles, the empty stools at the counter, the lone waitress refilling the coffee urn with the mechanical boredom of someone who’d seen too many night owls. He wrapped both grease-stained hands around the thick white mug of black coffee, letting the heat bite into his palms. Twenty-nine, divorced eight months, still living out of the back room of the shop half the time because the apartment felt too quiet. The wrench calluses on his fingers were permanent now. So was the hollow under his ribs that opened up every time the clock crawled past midnight.
He hadn’t expected company. The bell over the door jangled hard.
Naomi pushed through like she’d been shoved by the cold night air itself. Twenty-two, rain-damp hair plastered in dark streaks to her cheeks, oversized hoodie hanging off one shoulder so a thin black bra strap cut across pale skin. Her eyes were red-rimmed, mascara smudged into twin bruises. The boyfriend’s name was already half-forgotten—some loudmouth who’d probably said the wrong thing and gotten a plate thrown at his head. She spotted Theo instantly. The air between them went tight, electric, the way it always had back when they shared a bathroom and a too-thin wall in their parents’ house.
She froze two steps inside. Then her mouth twisted into that familiar half-smile that never quite reached her eyes when she looked at him.
