Heather shoved the tower door shut with her shoulder just as a wall of white tried to follow her inside, snow exploding off her cloak in a glittery curse. “Perfect,” she muttered, stamping ice from her boots. “Adventure of a lifetime, they said. Glorious loot, they said. Nobody mentioned becoming a human popsicle with a side of frostbite.”

The abandoned mountain tower was not, it turned out, abandoned.

A tall figure unfolded from a high-backed chair beside a reluctant fire, silver-white hair catching the light like fresh powder, cheekbones sharp enough to cut glass, and eyes the clear blue of glacial melt. He looked ridiculously attractive for someone who radiated the approximate warmth of a crypt. “You’re dripping on my floor,” he said, voice smooth as polished ice. “How… refreshing.”

Heather squinted. “Let me guess. Ice mage. Big on the dramatic entrance, light on the hospitality.”

“Gideon,” he corrected, and a lazy swirl of snowflakes spun from his fingertips, dancing in a mocking little waltz around her head. “Three hundred years of refined power, and yes, I can make precipitation perform. You’re welcome. And you are?”

“Heather. Professional adventurer, amateur disaster, collector of terrible life choices.” She peeled off her soaked gloves. “Also currently snowed in with an ice mage who thinks snowflake ballet counts as a personality.”

The blizzard howled agreement outside, sealing the door with a thick crust of ice before either of them could argue further. Days, maybe. Gideon’s aura rolled off him in cool waves; every time he stepped near, rime frosted the edges of her tunic and made her nipples tighten traitorously against the fabric.

“Cold shoulders already?” he quipped, lips curving. “Don’t worry. I’ll break the ice.”

“That was painful,” Heather said. “Like, historically bad. Do they teach you that in mage school or is the corny genetic?”

They ended up sharing the meager fire anyway, limited body heat a practical necessity when the temperature kept dropping. Hours bled into traded barbs. His chilled fingers brushed her wrist while passing a tin cup of melted snow-tea; frost kissed her skin and she shivered, not entirely from cold. She “accidentally” leaned into his side when the wind screamed. He “helped” adjust her cloak and left a glittering trail of ice crystals down her collarbone.

“You’re frosting my clothes on purpose,” she accused, half-laughing, cheeks flushed.

“Prove it,” Gideon murmured, breath cool against her ear. “I’m simply… chilling out.”

Something snapped deliciously in her chest. Heather turned, knee bumping his, and met those glacial eyes head-on. “Okay, fine. Cards on the table. Your frosty dominance thing? Ridiculously hot. The aloof mage act, the snowflake flexing, the way you keep almost touching me like you’re daring yourself—yeah. It’s working. Congratulations. You’ve thawed my dignity completely.”

Gideon’s smug mask cracked into raw heat. He exhaled a visible plume. “Thank the frozen hells. I’ve been fighting the urge to pin you against the nearest ice wall since you walked in trailing sarcasm and poor decisions. You smell like storm and steel and I want to ruin every clever comeback left in that mouth.”

“Then stop fighting,” she said, grinning. “Yielding time. Adventurer submits to ice mage. Make it good.”

He did.

Gideon’s magic unfurled like living winter. He stripped her with deliberate patience, then traced freezing, tingling patterns over her breasts—delicate frost whorls that peaked her nipples into aching points and made her gasp a laugh. “Cold hands, warm heart?” she managed.

“Cold hands, filthy intentions,” he corrected, and dragged a glittering fingertip lower, circling her clit with a shock of icy spark that had her hips jerking. She wrapped her fingers around his cock in revenge—long, hard, flushed against the cool of his skin—and stroked, thumb sweeping the head until his breath hitched into a groan.

He lifted her easily onto a throne he conjured from smooth, glassy ice, the surface strangely not quite freezing where it touched her. Then he knelt like a penitent king and put his mouth on her. His tongue was cold, slick, swirling and flicking until the contrast of chill and wet heat wrecked her. She fisted his silver hair and came with a broken pun about “climaxing conditions,” laughing through the shudder.

Gideon rose, spun her, bent her over the curved arm of the throne, and thrust into her hard from behind—deep, dominant, playful rhythm that slapped skin and stole her breath. “Still think my one-liners are terrible?” he growled, palm splayed on her lower back.

“The worst,” she panted, pushing back to take him deeper. “Do it again. Ice me, baby.”

They switched. She rode him reverse cowgirl, hands braced on his thighs, while he conjured slender vibrating ice toys—smooth rods that hummed with contained magic—to tease her nipples and press slick and cool against her ass. The dual assault of full cock and buzzing frost had her babbling nonsense. When he finally rolled her onto her back, hooked her legs over his shoulders, and drove deep, the world narrowed to heat and cold colliding. They climaxed together in a burst of magical frost and shared heat, snowflakes exploding outward like confetti and melting on her sweat-damp skin.

Afterward Gideon melted the throne into a luxurious warm water bed that cradled them like a heated lagoon. They floated, lazy and sated, trading slower orgasms with fingers and mouths while the blizzard raged forgotten outside.

“You’re snow joke,” Heather mumbled against his chest after the third languid round, voice wrecked and fond.

“I’m the freeze resistance you never knew you needed,” he returned, pressing a cool kiss to her temple. “Stay. Extend the snowed-in arrangement indefinitely. Tower’s big. I’ve got centuries of terrible puns left and a very thorough list of places I still need to put ice.”

Heather stretched, deliciously sore, already scheming. Next clear sky she’d “forget” to leave before the next storm rolled in—or better, she’d drag him down the mountain for a “supply run” that conveniently stranded them in every cozy inn between here and the capital. Adventurer and ice mage, repeat performances, endless material. She smiled into his throat, plotting the first fake emergency already.

“Deal,” she said. “But I’m bringing better material. Somebody in this relationship has to carry the comedy.”

Gideon’s laugh frosted the air above them, soft and wicked. “Challenge accepted. Now come here. I haven’t finished making you melt.”
